I have worked as an artist educator for the past 10 years; running my own photography department at a South East London college. I have also delivered workshops as a freelance educator at institutions including The Barbican, National Maritime Museum, Goldsmiths College and Kew Gardens. I have worked with a diverse range of young people from inner-city communities over the years, devising and delivering the GCSE and A-Level photography curriculum and organising a range of extra-curricular arts activities and residentials in the UK and abroad. I feel strongly that photography can be used as an important tool of self expression for young people to explore their own identities and the world around them.
My current educational work also integrates the urban nature relationship my own photography explores, alongside my yoga practice which I am qualified to deliver to adults and children. I have worked in various nature-based environments with young people such as forest schools, gardens and farms. Having now left mainstream education, I work freelance as an artist educator with a particular interest in exploring the interplay between art, nature therapy and wellbeing within less formal educational settings.
