Into the Trees
Previous generations and indigenous cultures held a much clearer understanding of the importance of our relationship with the natural world, believing human beings to be a small part of Mother Nature’s intricate web. Rapid urbanisation and a growing population, spreading out into what were once uninhabited natural environments, have resulted in urban societies gradually losing touch with the wilderness.
We have learnt many ways to suppress and control Nature, yet we forget that we depend on her for our very survival.
Forests and woodlands are undoubtedly magical places, places where we go to feel more connected to nature and to ourselves. This ongoing series takes the viewer on a journey with me through some landscapes I escape to in order to find balance, using light as a vehicle with which to capture the sense of calm that nature bestows.
Ongoing project. Photographs taken in England, Wales, Scotland, France and Spain.
